After a 23 hour flight from JFK to Manila, 1 hour flight to Caticlan and 45 min boat ride we’ve finally arrived to paradise! A place that is very close to where my family is from, which is why we decided to explore Boracay.
Boracay, Philippines is located south of Manila and is one of the top 100 beach destinations in the world. For those of you traveling on a budget or on a large expense account, Boracay is the perfect place for you! It’s a great destination for friends, families, newlyweds or in my case newly engaged 😉

There’s many restaurants located on White Beach, Station 1 & 2. White Beach Station 1 has the most beautiful white sand, crystal clear water with 50 shades of aqua blue. Trust me when I say you’ll never get bored on this island!

Since the island has become a popular tourist attraction you can find many different types of restaurants in addition to the authentic Filipino restaurants. There’s a little bit of everything to satisfy a curious palate. You can even “catch” your own fish and have it prepared at a local restaurant.
As a seafood lover myself, we went to the local fish market, D’Talipapa and bought (5) large prawns, (1) sea bass and (2) crabs for 1500 PESOS, which is around $25 USD! After “catching” our fish, we went to a nearby restaurant across the market to prepare the fish. You can even choose the seasoning/ sauce!
Our order was “grilled with lemon and butter sauce.”
In addition to the seafood, you can find Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican and New American restaurants. Here are the list of restaurants I highly recommend:
Breakfast: The Sunny Side Café – Located in Station 3, Shangri-La Breakfast Buffet
Lunch: D’talipapa Fish Market, Lemon Café & Restaurant
Dinner: Rima, Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, Smoke Restaurant for BBQ.
