I opened my eyes to about 3,349 text messages, and one happened to be an invite from one of my OG’s to see Serena Williams shutdown the U.S Open! Trust me I hopped out the bed, redeemed myself of my dragon breath, jumped in the shower, and got dressed. I had the privilege of viewing the match from the Emirates suite which meant open bar, and an open buffet! I didn’t drink much but i sure did OD on the fruit. The overall experience was phenomenal. I got to see one of the most iconic athletes of our time win at a major for the 30th time. The silence in Arthur Ashe Stadium as Serena went toe to toe with KiKi Bertens happened to be incredibly special for me. The extreme sound of them grunting really allowed me to respect the sport of tennis more than ever. I think i gave it away earlier in the beginning of the post that she won, but this experience was awesome because my late grandmother had love for the sport and always wanted to attend a match, so I feel like she was there with me.
After the match i ran home to get myself together for my birthday party. I have to admit this grown and sexy thing takes a lot of extra work, but they say it’s got to hurt to look good right?! I tried to my hardest to look good and it sure as hell wasn’t easy. I had my boy Kahh Spence give me a wig with a bang. My friend Jaqueline also came through to beat this face, and she totally did that *snap snap snap in a circle*. After having Kah and Jaqueline help me snatch my life I threw together a look that Sky Conner (stylist) helped me piece together. For the sake of the grown folk who work those 9-5 shifts i decided to start the party at 9PM so that they could attend too, and boy did that backfire on me. Not only i show up more than fashionably late but i didn’t even make on black people time. We left the house later then we planned, and then got caught in 45 minutes worth of traffic.
When I pulled up to 205 Chyrstie, my manger Michelle was so excited to see us. She had been trying to stall our early arrivals so that i could see them and thank them for coming. Of course I had to be that girl to apologize to all the homies for being more than fashionably late and thats when the party begin for me. I went to greet my ‘Ahh Ahh Ahh’ crew of friends ( we formed this clique during the Made In America Music Festival last year) and my boy Teo had two shots with my name on it! We mobbed out to the sounds of my friend Miss Milan who played a dope throw back set. She definitely warmed the crowd up for my boy Ernz (my DJ mentor) who hopped on the tables and put on a show. He kept everyone dancing including Miss Milan who participated in an intense dance off. Not only was the music great, but the guest I had come through were also great. Both my mom and my dad made special rare appearances and according to my friends the fountain of youth was on their side because they looked like they were suppose to be there. They’re were also some heavy hitters who came through such as Brooklyn Badmon Joey Bada$$, Lenny S of Roc Nation (Kodak Lens), Ebro (Hot 97/Beats 1),Sonny Digital (producer), Reggie Sylvester (artist), Mona Lady Luck (Canada), Nigel ( NY Giant) , Fame School, and The Dream (songwriter/singer), and least but not least my creators were just a few of the wonderful people who celebrated my birthday with me! It was such a good feeling to have people from all the different chapters of my life under one roof bouncing positive vibes off of one another. After hosting all the guest i got on the mic which is something i have a huge fear of and helped hype up the party as well as host a milly rock/Dab off. Check out some of the action from the dance off above.
Now ya’ll know after the party it’s the after party, so Michelle suggested we go to The Box next door. She got us a table but I missed the last show because i was saying my goodbyes to everyone that came to the party. However, Sonny Digital and his cousin got to experience the freak show and they loved it! The Box is a nightclub that’s known for their sexually explicit cabarets. Hide your kids, hide your wife! After leaving The Box we all caught hunger pains so we went to Cafeteria where i hadn’t been in so long. The food gave me the itis so we called the night a wrap. I mean there wasn’t much more to do anyway. So we went our separate ways and i took my old a** to sleep!
Overall the night was everything i had hoped it would be! Special thanks to everyone who came out for me.
