They are annoying. They are embarrassing. They are inconvenient. They are PIMPLES! I don’t know anyone that gets excited at the sign of zit on their face. Although we have been told to not to pop our zits, for some strange reason there is still an undying, oddly satisfying desire to squeeze the life out them.
Pimples are the result of bacteria on the surface of your skin clogging a pore. Many people don’t know why they even get acne in the first place. Some of the reasons are more obvious like hormonal breakouts. Other causes of acne are drinking too much coffee, medication side affects, not cleaning your cell phone off ,lack of sleep, stress, eating too much sugar, changing your beauty products too often, using products to harsh and drying for your skin and using too heavy of a foundation. The list goes on and on.
My goal here is to help you figure out what to do when these breakouts occur. I am not a dermatologist in any way, shape, or form and there are many skin conditions that are beyond my expertise. If your acne situation seems to be more severe than an occasional zit, the dermatologist will let you know if you need to use professional strength topical medication, birth control, or antibiotics. However, I believe that I have the simple pimple popping game under control.
Things You’ll Need:
1.Clean Hands
2. Wash Cloth
3. Extractor and/0r safety pen
4. Witch hazel
5. Cold Compress/ Ice/ Cold Water
6. Possibly Clean&Clear Persa Gel 10 and/or Tea Tree Oil
Step 1: Examine the zit to determine whether its under the skin or on the surface. The hidden pimples need a little more attention than the ones on the surface. A lot of us put pimple cream or various other forms of spot treating which is okay. However, it’s much better to try and get the blind pimples to come to a head by doing hot compresses a few times a day. Once this happens you can drain the pus out and eventually it will heal. Pop whiteheads only.If you don’t do this and try to extract the pimple it can cause scarring.
Step 2: Make sure you have clean hands and a clean face!!!
Step 3: Take a hot shower or if you don’t want to do that saturate your wash cloth with hot water (as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself)
Step 4: Place the wash cloth on the pimple for 30 secs and rinse your wash cloth again with the hot water if you have already taken a shower you can skip this step. The goal is to get the pimple to come to a head.
Step 5: Once the zit has come to a head you have a choice of using a pin, extractor, or your hands to pop the pimple.
Step 6: If you are using a pin make sure that it was sterilized by burning the tip of the pin before poking the middle of the whitehead. If you are using an extractor press down as hard as you can directly above the tip of where the pimple indentation begins and drag across to release the pus (my personal favorite way). Lastly, if you are using your hands put fingertips around the pimple’s top (you should be able to feel the sebum) and squeeze.
Step 7: Knead the skin around the zit. This will urge the remaining discharge to come out; continue doing it until the pimple is totally flat
Step 8: Wipe the area with a paper towel.
Step 9: Saturate a cotton ball with witch hazel and tap repeatedly over the newly popped pimple
Step 10: Apply benzoyl peroxide acne medicine on the pimple to eliminate any bacteria left inside of the pimple. My personal favorite is Clean&Clear Persa Gel 10 !
