It’s time to say goodbye to bikinis, shorts and sandals and say hello to knit sweaters, boots and leather jackets. But just because summer is coming to an end that doesn’t mean your beach bod has to leave too. To help you stay tight and toned and rid of that winter gut we’ve compiled a list of ab workouts to help you remain fit and fab!
Here are ab workouts to keep your tummy flat and toned:
Sit-ups
Sit-ups are a very effective way to keep your stomach tight. If you’ve already started working on your core try adding weights to your sets. A ball with 8-10lbs of weight will help to target your core and make those abs show even more.
Side plank with rotation
In a right side plank position brace your abs and reach your left hand toward the ceiling. Then slowly tuck your left arm under your body and twist forward until your torso is almost parallel to the floor. If it’s your first time trying this do about 2 to 3 sets, but if you’re advance 5 to 10 sets.
Lunge with rotation
First grab a 5 to 10 pound dumbbell. Then position yourself to do a lunge. With your feet hip-width apart and your arms straight out, take a big step forward and twist your torso to the left as you bend your knees. Once you have twisted to left, twist back to the center and push off with your left foot. Repeat on the other leg. If you really want to feel the burn do about 2 to 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps.
Swiss ball crunch
You don’t need a ball to do this workout. You can use your stairs or a bench. As long as you are able to go really low you will definitely feel this in your core. If you decide to use a ball sit on the ball and lay back. As you pull yourself up be sure to tighten your tummy.
